REVIEWS: ..an intense novel, involving a protagonist with deep feelings and attitudes, who is hounded by mysterious and bloodcurdling forces. The monstrous global plot is set in a landscape that is continually rife with danger...there are thrillers and then there are authentic thrillers like Black Road 2012 that not only talk the talk but also walk the walk. --~~Book Pleasures, October 11, 2009 Masterful, Exceptional, and Thought Provoking...It is cliche to say things like `page turner' and `I could not put this book down', however it is in fact true. I did in fact read it cover to cover in a single sitting....The quality of the writing is truly exceptional, the character development is masterful, and the subject matter startlingly thought provoking. --~~Bloggernews.net, December 28, 2009 Blending a noir mystery with a near-biblical thriller, Jeffrey A. Friedberg draws upon his own experiences to bring readers quite the story with "Black Road 2012". --~~Midwest Book Review, December 8, 2009 I absolutely loved this book...I was astounded at how quickly and intensely I was drawn into this story. The author's blend of genres (also adding suspense and paranormal thriller) was honestly brilliant. --~~Micki Grover, John Truby Studios, December 2, 2009 Like a dangerous addictive substance, I was hooked immediately....holding my breath, covered in goose bumps... --~~Reader Views, October 15, 2009 Jeffrey A. I have always been an avid writer. Perhaps that explains why I own and manage three separate websites with all of them dedicated to different subjects. While I am still at the tender age of twenty-one, I like to think that gives me the freedom to write openly and refrain from being overly cynical. Most of my writing deals with current events and politics, although I like to dab into policy on occasion as well. I am in my Junior year of college, studying Political Science at Indiana University South Bend. I call South Bend home, where I was born and raised. I am the recipient of the Indiana Black Expo's Martin Luther King Jr. Award, having won it in an essay contest in 2002 writing about the perils of racial profiling in the wake of 9/11. The following year I was awarded with the Presidential Award for excellence in education. My main interests include writing, working on my multiple websites, keeping tabs on the news, watching sports and being with both friends and family. In 2003, I founded the video game news and review website Game Freaks 365. My interest in politics drove me to create kylebell.com in 2007, a political blog meant to generate ideas and debate on policy as well as current events. In March 2008, I founded a third website, Movie Freaks 365. My main motivation for writing has moved from mostly entertainment critiques to politics. I hope to take my lifelong interest in politics and use it to make a difference in the world. You can call me a dreamer, but isn't that what all writers are anyway?

I'm the author of several stain removal guides and the cleaning guru for the weekend magazine of The Guardian, a leading UK national newspaper. I have also published 2 novels: Baby on Board (Piatkus, 2003) and Keeping Mum (Piatkus, 2004). Before becoming a writer and journalist I was a production co-ordinator and researcher on BBC arts documentaries. I worked with many leading artists of the day, including personal heroes Jean-Luc Godard, John Cage, Derek Jarman, Frank Zappa and David Hockney. I was on the road non-stop, taking in, amongst other places, the big island of Hawaii, China, Australia, the Amazon, the Pacific islands of Micronesia, the highlands of Papua New Guinea and, most frightening of all, the dark heart of Mobutu's Zaire, now the Congo. My unique, bizarre experiences ranged from standing in for Diana Dors on the Russell Harty Show to hearing a spirited rendering of ‘My Way’, sung by Frank Sinatra at his own 77th birthday party in Las Vegas. In 2003 I began working as a freelance text editor for Hamlyn and, soon after, received a commission to write my first book about stains. Following its successful publication I started writing for The Guardian. My new book, Done & Dusted, The Organic Home on a Budget, began as a compilation of my Guardian columns but kept on growing. In it I combine my cleaning expertise with my budgeting skills and an ongoing interest in the environment. It's a practical cleaning and lifestyle guide full of moneysaving tips to help you reduce your toxic chemical footprint on your body, your home and the planet. Meantime, I haven't quite given up on the fiction. My blog, Confessions of an Author, documents my ongoing struggle to get my third novel published: www.fessingauthor.blogspot.com.

Smoky Trudeau is the author of two novels, Redeeming Grace and The Cabin, and one work of nonfiction, Front-Word, Back-Word, Insight Out: Lessons on Writing the Novel Lurking Inside You From Start to Finish, all from Vanilla Heart Publishing. She has published short stories and poetry in literary journals such as CALYX and online e-zines such as Smashed Ink. She was a 2003 Pushcart Prize nominee. Smoky spent most of her life on the flat plains of Illinois, where she taught writing workshops at several community colleges and was a frequent speaker at writers conferences and book fairs. She is a freelance editor, writing coach, and book doctor who has helped hundreds of aspiring writers achieve their dream of becoming published. Finally succumbing to her bohemian spirit and need to live near the mountains and the ocean, Smoky moved to Southern California in 2008, where she lives in a ramshackle cottage in the woods overlooking the San Gabriel Valley and the San Gabriel Mountains beyond. When she isn’t writing, she spends her time hiking in the mountains and fighting the urge to speak in haiku.
